I'm going to tell you exactly what you want to hear. No, you are not wrong for doing what you did. As a boarder you have the right to do that. That you let it ride for 6 months is longer than most would have let it go. You insured that the horse had a quality life while in your care, which is more than we can say for the owner. As the law would look at it you protected the horse from the cruelty the owner would have inflicted on it. Good job. Keep doing what you're doing.

As the owner of the property, you have every right to legally take control of the horse after the lack of payment. You may feel bad, but that is an unfortunate part of the business. By taking the horse and giving her a better life than you have done the best thing. The previous owner should not have had the horse if they could not afford to care for it properly.

No you are not wrong at all. If you've been caring for her, and providing for her, there is no reason why you should feel bad for taking over her ownership and "official" care. Best of luck with her. I'm sure you two will have a better relationship than you (or she) had with her owner...
If you're feeling bad, that's part of the contract terms with anyone who boards. I've had friends who've been unable to pay on their board and had their horses on trailers to auctions before they came out to do anything (not that I supported their ownership of horses, nor their insistence on keeping said horses after they couldn't pay). I think your taking over of this horse is much more humane in the long run, but also realistic. You have been taking care of the horse, and are now being "paid back" for your time. Enjoy her and know she's having a better life with you....

No, you were not. Every animal deserves a good life, but it's not their fault that some owners are terrible at giving them what they need. You did the right thing, and I think i speak for everyone when I say you were not wrong for giving that horse a better life. your horse sounds beautiful! Good luck and have fun taking care of her!!!!!!!

Absolutely not, you did the right thing. The previous owner should be grateful that you begun caring for this horse. You could have called SPCA for animal neglect. You also could have taken him to small claims court for the money you spent caring for the horse.

No! I admire you for taking this horse. It is obvious that the previous owners could not afford this horse. And if you can make it's life better in any way than you deserve it!
Good Luck with her!

No, I would feel bad if the owner was down on her luck and trying to pay and seeing her horse often, but obviously that wasn't the case.

Unless something is physically or mentally is wrong with the owner...NO.........evidently you care more for the horse than the owner..........Just make sure you have followed every avenue to contact the owner and have done everything legal...........

of course not. animals are living things like us. and if you were to save it then it would be the same thing as saving a person. you were right to look into it. i am so happy that someone in the world is kind enough to get a lawer and make sure the horse is 100% great.
