Australia seems so far away, and very few Americans have actually met an Australian... movies seem to be the next best thing but are not always reliable. Some people do not like the accents... apparently the French accents are so awesome that no other accent could be considered cool... I disagree! I like Aussie accents. personality wise, maybe it's just a misconception, but many Americans are under the impression that most Aussies are friendly people... maybe because the way you talk seems friendly. And your country is AWESOME... it has SO many animals that can't be found much anywhere else. I'd be proud if I were you!!

Well, I like the fact that they have a down to earth sense of humor. But, I find that Aussie are often VERY arrogant and often tend to cut everybody else down whilst bragging about themseves or Australia. They have a jealous tall poppy complex about the US so bad it is ridiculous. They think it is quite ok to trash the US directly to an American but boy don't ever say anything about Australia. I had an Aussie roommate who used to crap on about how good he was for hours. Then I had to alway babysit him to keep him from stealing anything that wasn't nailed down. I think Australian women are fat, loud-mouthed, and abrasive like 1 grit sandpaper. And they also use a ton of swear words.
And I don't like the Aussie accent. It sounds like a criminal and reminds me of that old show PRISONER.
I think it sounds harsh and I did notice that the bad guys in Finding Nemo had Aussie accents and I found it quite appropriate.

I love all things australian. Nice, friendly people, gorgeous girls, great blokes, beautiful scenery. The only thing I can do without is all the poisonous spiders!
