I am US borne, I lived in Miami-Florida for seven years, before that, I lived in south America and recently move out of Florida for good to the UK, and now I look back to these past 7 years and even though I did my professional career there, I felt it was the 7 worst years of my live (social wise), because of this capitalistic systems I did not have many friends, everybody was busy, did not have a real girlfriend cause I did not have money to show and people saw me like I was a rat because I was poor “the more you have, the more you are” . And in the US, you can not pursued a university degree unless you come from a very wealthy family or live in debt for the rest of your life and if you become sick, you either have to have an insurance (very expensive if not paid by employer) or lived in debt for the rest of your live.

I think in the US, there is a culture to work but not culture to socialise with others, for example Drs see you as a number $ more than as a patient, i don’t want to generalise but i think the US system changes people into machines and blocks their mind form what is outside, most of the people I meet there, think that the US is the best country in every single way, without even visiting other countries, well I don’t blame then , with the little time off we had in Florida as listed on linked below, there is not time to visit any other countries,

Well, something else I realize when I was travelling Europe and south America, I noticed that most of Americans did not make any effort to a least speak the most common or used word in other languages and expect everybody to speak english as once a girl from Chicago told me “we are leaving the a globalisation world so everybody need to speak English”

In the other hand I think that economically wise US is great , my parents are doing financially very well so is my brother and most of the people I know, but unfortunately all the money they make and have, cant not even be enjoyed. I truly respect you opinion but I think that WE as “Americans” should see the world equally, change our minds, not because we are richest and have the economical power we have the right to abuse others and impose our system, ethics, morals as every country has their own and we should respect that.

This is a very difficult question to answer, especially for a Brit! Do you know why? -

Because it is not so long ago that Britain was the most powerful nation in the world, and any criticism of America by us could be thought of as jealousy. That's one.

You are a nation formed only 231 years ago, from a melting pot of the world's races. You have come to your present position in a very short time and, as a nation, you appear to have ultimate power over the rest of us without maturity and wisdom. That is scary to the rest of the world. What a human fears, he usually learns to hate.

You use around 70% of the world's resources yet you do not have 10% of its population. And what are you seen to do with those resources? - Well, there is Coca-Cola, McDonalds, some truly awful movies and the invasion of any country that you do not like.

On the other hand, most of the world has never been to the USA and is totally unaware that ordinary Americans are the most hospitable people on Earth, in their own country.

But you don't likr to say 'please' or 'Thank you' too much, in case we think you are Canadians! (Hey, that's a joke, OK?)

Speaking for myself, I certainly do not hate you. I just wish you would grow up a little faster...

Politics is the main reason, ask Bush. Also Americans have a tendency of expecting everyone to accept and be like them, Yet they are unable to accept people from other cultures and nations. I have heard many say to others that your are in America so you should speak English. This is discrimination and the inability to accept others for who they are. Most Americans have a tendency to look down on other races and nationalities as if they are the dominant culture. However they are not the dominate culture and until they began to respect people all other the world they will be hated more as time goes by. Americans can't even get along with other Americans, of different races and national origins. So why would you expect anyone else to like people from a country who hate their own people and are not very shy about saying so.

Because we think we're better than everyone else. Little do people know that we are the same no matter what gender, race, or religion we are. It's hard for a lot of people to comprehend that "We" Americans we once, in the past, immigrants to this country. Not our generation, but the generations before us came to this land the better their lives... to better the future of our lives, but we take what we were given for granted. Like many people.... we as Americans think we have a higher status than other people across the world. If you look at the cliques in high school..... multiply that by a million to put it into perspective for the entire world.

When you ask a question like this... there is no way in which to avoid politics.

Because Americans are arrogant.
They think they are smarter and they are not.
A lot of people from other countries speak 2 or 3 languages
fluently. Americans usually speak one and poorly at that.
Americans are rude. When travailing they get annoyed when someone in another country does not speak English.
Americans think other countries are jealous of them. There are some countries that the people would love to have the opportunities and freedoms that Americans have and take for granted.
But there are many more countries their citizens love the culture, history and way of life that is unique to their country.

I don't think people do hate Americans, so many people come here from all over the world, and more would come if they could, we do waste a lot of resources however, and we need to learn to not be so wasteful, as we are using up more than our share

americans lost only about 3200 people with the 911 thing. In retaliation George killed 4,200 children and 4,800 women plus soldiers only trying to defend their country against an attack. How would he feel if another country such as the commonwealth attacked America becuae we did not like their government. The man should have been hanged befpre Sudamm. The world gave no power to america to "run the world" They can be beaten in 3 days by the people against them. And i do mean WIPED OUT!!

Aussies tend to think they don't have much of a sense of humour.
But then again I think Americans tend to have trouble understanding the Aussie humour.
The US is a pretty dominant sort of country or think of themselves like that anyway (you know it's ok for them to make nuclear weapons & missiles but nobody else) and like anything else people will resist or rise against a dominant power.

Most of the bad rap Americans take is because of this criminal we have for a President. He is the worst America has to offer.

Why not? People from every country love to hate on other countries. It gives them the illusion of superiority to make them feel better about themselves even though they're just as hypocritical as everyone else.
