Im taking the bus for the first time tomorrow, Its probably a dumb question but is there any good bus travelling tips?? Im 17 and my parents never let me take a bus anywhere before and Im a bit nervous, my parents always said that I'd get kidnapped or beat up if I take the bus so Im a little worried. So I need assurance...lol..thanks

I guess it depends on where you live. In Minneapolis, some bus routes are very nice... some a little sketchy.

These are my tips.

-Get to your stop a few minutes early
-Have exact change ready
-Carry a purse that you can put over your neck (like crossed over your chest) that way it's close to you, you can see it (unlike a backpack), and no one can easily snatch it from you.
-Be aware of your surroundings at all times
-Take a Cell Phone
-Have plenty of cash
-Plan your route exactly and don't miss your scheduled buses.

You should be fine. Take a friend if at all possible.

riding a bus is nothing to be worried about, it will depend on where you live, lets say you live in an area like Compton, don't make eye contact just look forward, but if its like a metropolitan city its should be fine with the occasional druggie, if its a nice little suburb type of thing you can talk to people and have intellectual conversations. Overall don't be worried just have confidence and you will succeed in what you look to achieve.
