What does a homeopathic doctor actually do? Have you ever been to one - if so, was it a good or bad experience? How did you find one? Do they typically accept insurance?

I go to a homeopathic Dr. who is also an M.D., so I find that I get the best of both worlds.
The focus is on total body health, and paying attention to what your body is telling you, along with careful attention to genetic pre-disposition to illnesses.Homeopathy is excellent for chronic illnesses.
The experience was wonderful from day one, I have yet to meet a Dr. who listens as well & is as familiar with my physiology as my homeopath is. The difference in treatment efficacy is like that of a laser compared to a searchlight, because he is so tuned in to me. If I was ever involved in a major auto accident or other life-threatening illness/event, I definitely would want him as my primary care physician.
I found mine through word of mouth. He is one of the best in the nation, and also happens to live in my area. Everyone from my boss to the parents of my students were referring me to him. At that point it was initially for daily, severe & hard to treat migrianes due to chronic allergy.
In the long run his treatments have been the most gentle yet side -effect free & most potent of all the medical modes I am now using (for serious illness & pain).
You can check him out at thelesterclinic.com, he does treat people from around the country, or can likely refer you if you want someone more local.
Homeopathy has drastically changed my quality of life for the better. If you get in touch with Dr. Lester, he is very good about not wanting to waste anyone's time or money, he will send you information and then if it sounds right for you, filling in some preliminary paperwork for him to look over & give an honest answer as to whether he thinks he can help-and that is all without cost last time I checked.
I am uninsured, so you'd have to ask his office re. coverage. The intial cost is a bit high, but after that, the daily homeopathic remedies are only $15.00/bottle, and you will find that they address the most significant or prominent complaint, and a multitude of other things as well.
For example, not only did it treat the migraines, but my allergies got well enough for me to get a cat, my constant problem with PTSD is soooooooo much improved, I sleep at night, am much more able to focus and concentrate, and it helps my ADHD, even though I am also on Rx for that.
I surely hope this works for you, you will be delighted with the results and feel better than you have in years, it is so restorative.
I have even seen it used with a non-verbal special needs student with fabulous results, obviously I cannot reccomend it highly enough-go for it!

I went to one for many years and he helped me with a chronic illness the regular doctors couldnt even diagnose.
It was a good experience. My was a homeopathic Dr and an MD. You can look in your yellow pages or look online for one in your area. My insurance did pay because he was also an MD but that doesnt mean yours wont if he is not also an MD.
I still use homepathics for things and they help quite a bit.

Homeopathic doctors help the body heal through the use of natural (organic) potions and salves. I used a salve made from flowers, called calandula, on a horrible burn and it healed not leaving even a scar.

I used to work for an osteopath, which is one type of homeopathic doctor.

She performed a variety of types of birth delivery, both dry and underwater; gave massages and did alignments; helped people with diet and nutrition; and helped people with common health ailments, such as cold and flu. Once, when I burnt my hand, she put a poultice on it for me.

She not only used herbal remedies and crystals, she also prescribed medical drugs in certain cases.
