most oceans have about 35 parts per thousand of salt. The Mediterranean is higher, the arctic lower during the spring melts.
At 35 ppt, that is about 3 1/2 %. If a cup is 16 ounces, that's about half an ounce in 1 cup of water, or a little more than a teaspoon.
