Help! How can I get my Microsoft Word Spell Checker to work?

I am writing an important school paper and my spell checker on Microsoft Word for some reason does not work. How can I turn it on or get it to function? Please help!

As previously noted, either click on the ABC icon on the standard toolbar, or selection Tools>Spelling and Grammar.

If you are still having problems, there are a couple of things to check: 1) Occasionally, the dictionary gets accidently turned off or disabled. Go to Tools>Options and select the Spelling & Grammar Tab. Click on Custom Dictionaries, and make sure the dictionaries you have are checked. Also, double check that your settings are correct (do you want check spelling as you type enabled, etc.).

If your dictionaries are selected, your document may believe it has already been spell checked. From the Tools>Options and selection the Spelling & Grammar Tab - Select Recheck Document. This will reset the document as though it has never been spell checked before.

I am not sure what is wrong with it because I have not seen what is doing, but the parts you are unsure about(in your essay or article) you can post into a yahoo email! Yahoo has a spell check also, so if you are frustrated you can always try that.

Make sure you have all your toolbars. then click the one with a ABC on it and it has a check mark on it also.
