Yes. There comes a time when you reach your end, when you have to sink with them or walk away and save yourself, be it friend/family/lover.

I have a friend, a person I called family once, who "depleted" me of all emoitions. He is fighting a war with drugs and I have stepped in and saved him so many times, got him help, clean and sober, only to lose him again and again. His family is part of his problems and I know that , but it doesn't excuse what he's done. I had to walk away from his problems before I was pulled under with him. I sacrifed time with my family, days from work, and my sanity for him. But in the end the only person I could save was myself. So YES, you can be depleted.

Yes...and then I was watching Kat Williams on a comedy special and he was talking about self-esteem. He was saying something to the effect of "how can someone mess up esteem you have of yourself??? That is why it is called self-esteem.".. At that point I laughed and I realized that I had emotionally depleted myself and got my sh@# together.

Yeah, my parents do as a duo when I see them, my best friend often does, a LOT of modern Americans are emotionally depleting, that's why I'm a hermit.
