im 17 and my mother has a big fear of me having a accident , like getting pregnant , she says if i do she will make me get rid, is she trying to scare me ?

yep she is trying to scare you. legally she would not be able to force you into an abortion and in fact your gp would not be able to tell her about it without your express consent so the timing of any announcement wouild be up to you.
however 17 is really young to have a kid believe me you have a lot of years ahead of you in which to do that.

No mother wants their child to have sex EVER or ever get pregnant. My mother was always asking me if I was on birth control, even after I was moved out and married. But I can understand a parents concern. They want you to go to college and be married and then have children when you are financially able to care for a child. Also, they think you will miss out on alot if you have a baby and that is true. She is trying to scare you but if she has any kind of heart at all she wont make you get rid of your child if you had an accident and got pregnant. Just be careful and don't get pregnant now so you dont have to chance it.

if she is the kind of mother that wants you to go to college and wait to have kids and all that follows after you find someone you will truely be happy with then shes probably trying to scare you, but then if she had a child at or close to the age you are now then she might think that if she had a tough time you would to and she doesnt want you to go thru that. either way even if you did end up getting pregnant she really cant make you get rid of the baby if you dont want to.

because she wants you to have a life and a career before you settle down and have children and i think she's right about that at least. being a young mum can be difficult, and so yes she is trying to scare you. but do you really think that she would make you get rid of the baby? or would she just disown you if you had a child...bearing in mind babies are a huge responsibility would you not want the full support of your family? just be careful, my advice is use the pill and condoms to protect you from pregnancy and stds...

my mum did that. as soon as i started my perionds she was alwasy telling me that if i ever got pregnant she'd march me straight down to the abortion clinic and then ridicule me infront of all my friends...needless to say i made sure i moved out b4 gettin pregnant! evn if u did get pregnant she can't make u get rid; like some1 said here, its illegal.
she's just saying it cuz when she was growing up havin a baby b4 ur 22ish was a huge taboo and it just wasn't done. she just doesn't want her 'baby girl' to get 'corrupted' by some bloke and thus is tryin 2 scare u out of having sex. if ur ready 4 it and use protection she can hardly stop u and its nt like she has to find out!

my gf is pregnant and we found out when she was just 18. her mum went mad at first but has now come round to the idea of her keeping it. hopefully she is just trying to scare you because it will control the rest of your life and cost a fortune. my gf's mum tried to scare her iton having an abortion but also said she would stand by her no matter what her decision was. hopefully your mum would be the same if it happens to you. hope that helps a bit if not sorry

She's trying to scare you into doing the right thing - by being responsible with your body and life. Should an "accident" occur though she could not physically force you to get an abortion.

First of all, YOU SHOULD USE BIRTH CONTROL.
Obviously, your mother is concerned for your future. You need to finish high school and college!!!
If you are 17 and pregnant, she will have to take care of YOUR BABY!
Your mother is saying she does not want to raise another baby at her age.

Well, sounds like she is perhaps trying to scare you but for her to tell you that she would make you get rid of it is a little overboard in my opinion. I think that's a horrible thing to say and if it ever happened and she tried to make you have an abortion is just wrong. That would be your choice not hers.

Yes, she's partially trying to scare you. She's worried about you. just give her a hug and let her know she can trust you to make the right decisions. If you're not sexually active, let her know. if you are please make sure to protect yourself. Moms panic a bit at this age. Also, she can't make you do anything if you DO get pregnant. You're old enough to decide for yourself (not that i recommend getting pregnant now!)
