My friend has an Hp Pavillion dv4000 notebook with 60 gig hard drive, 512 mb RAM and Intel Pentium 1.7 Ghz processor and Intel Centrino mobile technology. He has Windows XP Home Edition 2002 service pack 2. He desperately needs to upgrade. I told him to get more RAM and Hard Drive.

He bought it last year in june so he's not that willing to replace the entire computer, and prefers to buy a new one at least a year and a half from now.

Why? This computer is pretty much standard. If he's doing video add another 512mb of RAM. If hes playing the new generation of 2.0 GHZ games and above or need more video Ram then he needs another computer. Besides getting XP Pro or Vista I don't see where he has a problem, unless his registry is screwed up or he downloads a lot of programs that slows down his computer and thinks the problem is the computer instead of his lack of the knowledge to clean it out.

Generally speaking to upgrade a laptop is not a cost effective option. Laptop parts can be hard to install due to the fact that ( especially with hp) some of the parts are permanently installed and there isn't always room for expansion. Also, laptops feature much more internal wiring and one must be very careful as its easy to damage wiring such as for your screen or power supply. One option would be to contact any local authorized HP upgrade center. Another and possibly more cost effective in the long run ( as well as easily upgradeable) is to purchase a desktop PC.

Sony is overpriced in accordance to similar specs and good factors. Toshiba is an option provided that you're searching for more effective useful outfitted-in audio device. I honestly have a sparkling Dell XPS M1530 yet i'm utilising a 4-three hundred and sixty 5 days-previous Toshiba because of the more effective useful audio device after I watch television shows on line. so a techniques as Apple is in contact, i might want to pick them in case you experience gentle/conventional with them. visit the Apple keep for a try rigidity if there is one close to you.
