Without pain you never know what it's like to feel free. Because if you walk around in a numb state you are not being true to yourself. You are either denying a feeling or have lost contact with what it is to feel. Imagine that a close friend dies and you feel nothing. Numb. It is better to hurt at first and then come to terms with this death. If you are merely numb than you wonder what is worng with you and you may never come to terms with your loss.
People feel pain for a reason. Sure, it can be hard, but without life's struggles you cannot understand life's triumphs.

in a Way, i love to feel pain like that. it makes me write better. but most of the time id rather be numb. Ive dealt with emotional pain for over 12 years and it would be nice to never have to feel those emotions again.

Comfortably numb, a la Floyd? No, being numb might feel good in the short-term, but overall it solves nothing. You cannot have life without suffering.

It is better to feel pain, acknowledge it and handle it. When you are numb, you are unable to show feelings so you stay in that non-happening sorta mode... When in all actuality you aren't numb, your hurt and have no understanding on how to handle your feelings so you rather act as if you have none.
