Fat is absorbed into the lymphatic system after being packaged up in mycelles of bile due to the emulsion formed by bile mixing with contents moving out of the stomach into the duodenum.

Sugars and amino acids are actively transported into the epithelial cells in the intestines and out the other side into capillaries. These capillaries lead to the hepatic portal vein which takes all blood from the digestive system to the liver before returning to the rest of the body's circulation.
