"Clueless" does have some of those elements, so it might be that but not quite sure. The main character Cher, played by Alicia Silverstone, does have a black friend named Dionne. She does give someone a makeover, and they do become very popular. Her father's ex-wife's son is in college (though wants to be a lawyer, not an accountant), and comes to stay with them over vacation. He does not like her at first, but over time he does develop feelings for her. They do end up together at the end, of course.
