What is the benefit if a freezer already has auto-defrost?

I'm not sure what the difference is between the two but the frost free is really maintenance free. I used to have to defrost my freezer every few months. what a pain

If you live in an area that has a lot of power outages you are better off to get one that you defrost manually because the extra ice will keep your food longer. I never defrost mine during the winter just for that reason.
