I'm looking for the name of an indie band (maybe it was even a solo artist) from the Seattle area (I think). I stumbled upon their work in late '02 - early '03. At the time they didn't play outside of the Portland-Seattle coffeehouse scene. I enjoyed their songs, so I purchased a CD through their website. I've since lost the CD, and the MP3s I burned from it.

***** I distinctly remember the CD cover featuring a watercolor (or drawing) of an umbrella in the rain. *****

The music was quiet, simple, and beautiful. I just recently remembered it when I came across the song "Desert Sunrise" by Seattle based artist Brett Dennen. I suspect he might have been involved with this unnamed mystery umbrella band. His most recent album cover even resembles the cover of the album to which I'm refering.

***** Can anybody help? *****

You can only be talking about "The Harmonica Pocket". A talented guy named Keeth Apgar (I believe that spelling is correct), and Lorne Watson make up the band along with some extra musicians that help out. It's the only band I could find around Seattle ( I'm not from there, I read a lot) with an umbrella in rain on their cd.
Hope this helps.

Could the band "BIG UMBRELLA" be who you are looking for? They recorded with the indie label RACER RECORDS.
