Is it possible to save movies to your hard drive from say like a dvd with the 360?

Im pretty sure you cant. For some MS points u can rent movies from the marketplace to your harddrive. But these eventually go away. Plus as i have been finding out with the zune, DVDs arent easily playable without the dvd because they are in different file types
