No, they do not; however, with time the pain of a break-up lessens.

Hugs to your friend. Tough question.
One side a second (or third) break up might hurt less as he has already experienced the emotion. The other breakup(s) will still hurt like crazy, but less then first.
On the other side it might hurt him more as he might be thinking "why does this keep happening to me" and think there is something about him that is wrong.
And...I have heard that while a man may cover it well on the surface, that they do feel the hurt very deeply and maybe take a bit longer to recover. Maybe women ' recover ' faster because we talk openly to other women...thus have more support for our healing.
Nice that you are there for him to help him through this.

That's is not very true.....I think that it really depends on the personality of a person. Break-up is the result of not meeting wants and needs. Perhaps the guy should realize somehow , why this incident keep on happening? Whether it is first, second or third break-ups, the pain still remain. People only tend to realize its importance when its gone already.. Forgiving will lessen the pain.....

If you are breaking up with the same person I found the third time around was easier. We are all different and we all handle things differently.
Men might take longer due to their not being in tune with their emotions like women tend to be, but I do not know if there are any statistics on that one.

Being hurt depends on the amount of love you have for a person.
So any relationship whether the first or last could be the worst. I don't agree that men take longer to recover it depends on the person.

break-ups are never an easy thing when you emtionally connected to a person it will always hurt you no watter what the circumstance is. Women or men have the same feelings abouta break-up but may deal with the situation in different ways.

First if there is a chance of there being a second time being cheated on then there is no way to go back and let it happen it hurts worse cause you think they will not do it again.

It has been my experience that each break up is easier than that last. That doesnt mean that they dont hurt or that it might not take years to get over it. But my first one was just awful. But you survive it and move on. And with each one that you survive, you are stronger.

i would much rather have a women cheat on me than have her break up with me. With her breaking up it makes me feel like i didn't do my part into maintaining the relationship and having her cheat just lets me know; how do i put this nicely? She's a S!ut.

People recover differently. Isn't a gender thing.
If the guy is depressed, I would try to get him to a doctor and have him put him on medication. No need to fall into a major slump.
