Something nice and dressed up that's nice for an evening and isn't too provocative is a nice dress shirt (something from wet seal, abercombie and fitch, etc)

Then wear something like a nice pair of jeans with high heels. Then dress it up with jewelry...but don't over do it...like one ring, necklace and earrings.

And for situation-are you going out on a date?
Best advice is to be calm, be yourself...that's why he asked you out in the first place!

Good luck and look at some fashion magazines to give you tips

well first ask yourself why u r afraid to dress up and have a nice evening then figure out what u can do to over come that like lets say if ur husband died and u want to start dating again well go to hid grave and talk to him say i want to start dating again will u be mad at me if i do and if u feel that he wont go ahead and some nice outfits would be just a nice skirt and a shirt mabye some earings and a neclace and have fun.

I have the same problem- wear a dress that covers you on the top and bottom, or if you are not going that dressy, a skirt that comes at least halfway down your thigh, leggings, and a tank top or lacy tunic. Try not to eat too much because you're insecure- I tend to do that. Talk to people, find someone that you know, or try to engage someone in conversation that is sitting in a corner- they are probably in the same situation that you are.

Hmm. Well, I understand the dilema! It's hard to find clothes these days that are pretty and mature without showing off all that God gave you. But you have to consider how formal or casual the night is going to be.

If you're going to wear a skirt, black or denim or whatever... Keep the skirt about knee length. Any shorter and you're going to be tugging it down all night, especially when you sit. Any longer than knee length, and you're going to risk looking like a nun. (Or, in my case, really short!) Right below knee length is really flattering on most people.

If you usually wear your hair down, wear it down and part it on the other side. Usually up? Keep it up, but part you hair on the side and then comb it back. Then take a thin section of hair and wrap it around the hair piece and secure it with a bobby pin. Just do something slightly different.

If you like heels, wear them. If not, they sell all kind of cute flats these days. I bought an awesome pair last night for $5 at Payless.

I've always liked shirts with boat necks... it shows off some skin but you don't have to worry about showing cleavage. It's wide necked instead of lownecked. You'll have a better idea what color looks best on you. Usually you can throw a camisole under either a dress or shirt that is too low cut.

Nothing will help you be at ease more than being comfortable. Wear whatever you're used to wearing. Jeans? Wear a nice pair and put it together with a nicer top and some cute shoes. If you aren't happy with how you look, you're going to be uncomfortable. On Halloween my friends convinced me to go out looking just a bit on the slutty side (and by a bit I really mean I'm surprised no one offered me money for my "services). I was way out of my comfort zone, and WOW did it show. I was on edge all night.

So, don't go jumping out of your comfort zone. If you aren't used to wearing low cut shirts or skirts, there's no need to do it all at once. Do your hair slightly different. Wear a little more makeup. Wear a dressier shirt than usual and some awesome shoes. Take everything up one notch, not ten notches at once! If you're comfortable with yourself, it's going to show. Keep your sense of humor with you, it's on of the most important accessories to have. Remind yourself of times you were at ease, and act that way.

People don't overcome their fears by staying in their comfort zones. You can only conquer fears by stepping out and pushing your limits. Good luck, I know you're gonna blow them all away.

Maybe a good pair of jeans or trousers and a nice shirt might work. And what are you afraid of, I am not sure...but if you feel uneasy you might consider listening to your inner voice.Maybe you are not ready for whatever it might be, do not force yourself.

Phone your mom.
Asking a question like this to complete strangers seems rather silly.
Your mom loves you, cares about you, and know what's in your closet. Start dialing!!!!!!!

Pretty and provacative are relative terms. You may be better off asking someone who knows you better.
