Do you mean acorns that are the seed of oak trees? Someone very close to me gives people acorns because he wants them to be planted and grow into an oak tree. I don't know of any social significance behind giving someone an acorn, but it's a friendly gesture no doubt. :D

How that fits into egg issues is a mystery to me. CR diets are those diets where you eat just enough to stay alive and no more and every meal is the minimum number of calories. Apparently people believe that you will live to be 120 years old if you follow this diet. You can check this out at.

Just in case you meant eggcorns or egg corns:

This is a recently coined term for mis-spelled idioms which convey a similar sense to the original, but with a particular shade of meaning added or emphasised by the mis-spelling. "Eggcorn" is a mis-spelling of "acorn", but it still suggests something that a plant might grow from. "Free reign" for "free rein", and "peak your interest" for "pique your interest", are also common.
