Alcohol is a lot worse and can increase the risk of quite a few different diseases.
Pot has been found NOT to increase chances of getting lung cancer and has even been found to delay the onset of alzheimers by UNBIASED studies.
It's only a matter of time before pot is legalized.

Marijuana has not been shown to have any permanent damage to the brain (although smoking reefers does harm the lungs), but alcohol clearly has been. See link. A federallly funded study has failed to demonstrate any lasting effects of marijuana to brain function, so the Bush Adminstration has quashed it. The reason why it's outlawed is simply because it's been outlawed for so long that legal authorities are loathe to say, "Hey, we've been wasting an awful lot of law enforcement resources for decades to combat a low-priority problem!". Will it ever be legalized? I hope the younger generations finally step up to the plate and knock it off the law books. I think it will happen.

Alcohol will always be worse than cannabis. For the reasons you state along with the fact that alcohol dulls the mind while cannabis enhances it. Cannabis has a stigma from the 60s that still hasn't worn off. While many polls show that 70% of Americans think cannabis should be sold like tobacco, our legislators sit back and do nothing. When it comes to drug policy our government is purely hypocritical. While claiming that cannabis has no medicinal value they allow Unimed to make Marinol (synthetic THC) and sell it for up to 10 times the black market price of cannabis.
The biggest reason for cannabis and many other drugs being illegal is the money that's made from the trade.
It is no coincidence that one of the founders of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America was a former executive at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals.
I hope cannabis will be legalized at some point.
There has never been one death caused by cannabis. The drunk driving deaths related to cannabis were caused by the use of alcohol and cannabis together. That is a very dangerous combination.

Alcohol is much worse. It's physically addictive and pot is not. We also know alcohol damages your body and the evidence of physical damage from pot is surprising slim. I don't think pot will be legalized, but penalties for possession are so minor that's becoming unimportant.

Look at your question, and then look it up online why its not legal, and why alcohol is much worse.
Pot is addictive, pot does kill its called DUI of marijuana, it has been found that alot of the major accidents that resulted in death that the driver was found to have THC in their system.
Read this! To relate the deaths of drunk drivers to drinking you have to relate the deaths of stoned drivers to smoking pot!

well if your just counting driving then just as many could die. pot slows down your train of thought and you may not be able to react quick enough.
now to me pot just makes you chill out like taking too much ibprofen but alcohol is far better for sex so ill take it before pot any day...
I think we have plenty of things to mess us up without legalizing an other intoxicating drug

alcohol. my dad died of alcohol abuse yesterday 2 years ago.
pot hasnt ever killed anybody. ever. you make a good point. if anything, they should illegalize everything that is alcoholic except maby wine and beer, cuz they arent very bad unless you drink them constantly. that and ciggarettes.
i think the government is secretly trying to kill everybody slowly so they can take over the world. that sounds stupid, but serisouly. think about it.
