How come Cape Verdean people have to identify as African American in this country. i know they are from a country that is off the coast of africa and is it included in the african country. But 71% of Cape Verdeans are Creole/mulatto (half white and half black). They are not allowed to identify as white or other. does anyone else think that is not right?

It's not that serious like I said countless times some scientists over in Europe are trying to create half human half cow hybrids. Those hybrids are the ones who should be worried about what to identify themselves as not humans

sweety here in america u can be 25% black and be seen as african-american while u are trying to run away from us, white people dont wanna consider u part of their group u should be glad blacks want to accept u, also i look bi-racial and could pass for it but i dont want to, and even if u classify as something else and if someone calls u a ***.ger u guys wanna run to us about it. and if u guys accomplish something u sit and say oh black can do things in life and stuff like.also if u classify urself as something other than black then dont try and apply for black scholarships since u are NOT black. u cant have both ways not trying to be mean but if the whole world had to classify u would be seen as black, u have color to u so u are seen as black.

The only "African Americans" are people who were born in Africa and later gained American citizenship, even then they really are Americans. Everyone in the world is of African decent in one way or another.
if you were born here then you are an American regardless of your skin color.
Most people from Africa i have met (more than 20 and even a few "white" ones) really resent Americans who call themselves African American cuz they aren't, they are American, Americans.

In this country if you have any black in you, you are considered black.
