I have been separated for a year and my divorce should be done in a few months. I dated this guy once (he knew I was separated) but I think he is laying low until he knows I am free. I think it kind of freaked him out when he came into my house and saw old photos of me and my husband when we were dating (forgot to take the one photo down...shoot!). What do you think?

Also, how do I let him know that my divorce is done?

The date was going great until he saw the pics....then when he left he said "call me if you want to hang out" but never called me back when I left a message for him. I think the pics scared him cause he was so into me until that point.

You know what, even though your situation is complicated- I think the fact that the guy you dated recognizes the fact that you are not completely "free" is respectable because he doesn't want to move in on you yet. He wants to your status AND himself and thus that saves you both trouble. Also, he seems to be open about hanging out with you and possibly being with you in the future, at least being friends just because of what he said instead of just running off- I think there is some potential there. If he just went along with you and disregarded the fact that there is still some paperwork to be done, then it would show the kind of respect he has for other peoples' relationships, and that wouldn't be too much. So just hang in there- I still think you two have a future if that is what you want!!!

I went thru this same situation. I just said, "It's only a matter of time before the divorce is finalized, I am ready to date now." Then I asked if he was going to have a problem seeing me now. I kept him up on the progress, and he ended up being fine with it.

I would wait until the paperwork is final. And you tell him, just by telling him. Heck, some people invite their friends out for drinks - you could include him in something like that, and I think he'd get the hit.

Almost is not completely divorced and that means techmically you are still married until the judge says you are legally single.

you could call and/or call him if you think divorce being final matters, it shouldn't but to some it does. Think one knowing your actually getting divorced would be enough.

why not call him and ask him out to dinner or lunch..keep it light..see if he is still interested...im sure in the course of your "date" your divorce will come up..good luck..p.s. remove the pics of the ex

make sure you're totally clean from your ex....wait the few months to start fresh. and tell the new guy you've nothing to do with your ex anymore and he should believe you if you're telling the truth.
