The free DVDs we get in the UK through the newspapers never have subtitles, has anybody bothered to notice , i am a deaf person and i cannot understand why this is the way it is , it must be pure ignorance by fat cats up the top...

I can only assume it's cheaper! When buying cheap DVDs (I'm too tight to buy them when they're first released) I always have to check if they have subtitles (my son is deaf).

Yes - shows a total lack of interest by those 'up top'.

Almost as irritating as him having to get someone else to activate his bank cards.....but that's another issue.

Discrimination is alive and well...

I agree pure ignorance. Some of the free DVD's I have do have subtitles but most not. Some Television series dont have subtitles either. Most infuriating. Someone should do something about it!!!!

i totally agree! i am deaf too and its so annoying when you cant understand whats being said on a dvd or television!
you would think that by now people would have put subtitles on all dvds!
we get dvds through the post asking us to vote for important things going on with the council and i just throw them away bec i aint got a clue what they saying..
it annoys me too!
