Yes I think lesbians are condsidered gay. I had a lesbian friend once, and when she came out to me her exact words were "I'm gay." (i already knew--it was pretty obvious.) But anyway she considered herself gay.

You can call us whatever works, but gay is gay. Then you can break it up into lesbian and gay men. Hey, how come gay women get their own label and us guys are just gay guys? Hardly seems fair if you ask me.

When my partner to be an I discussed our future, the word "lesbian" was current. I suppose I am GAY but only in the inclusive sense.
We were together for 42 years. I am now 62.
