i'm currently 20 weeks pregnant and couldn't be happier, but a friend of mines just had to have a abortion for medical reasons and even her own mother isn't talking to her. if she'd had the baby she'd have died and most likely the baby too. evn if she didn't it would leave the baby mother-less which is hardly fair on the child knowing that childbirth killed it mother! so why does every1 think straight away ur a bad and evil person if u hav a abortion?

Abortion is just one of those flash-point issues that people tend to have violently far right or far left opinions on.

The fact is, sometimes abortions are necessary, and they are usually gut-wrenching decisions. Even the most tight abortion laws recognize that they are appropriate under certain circumstances, such as saving the life of the mother, or in the case of rape or incest.

My condolences to your friend, that must have been a difficult decision.

I think because people assume it's still so backstreet and dirty that it has a stigma attached to it, and that you've done it for contraceptive reasons instead of thinking that there may have been a medical reason. I had the opposite experience I got pregnant at 19 and we agonised over what to do, in the end we went ahead with the pregnancy and now we have a 8 year old a 5 year old and an 18 month old child, and we have been married 7 years so in the end everything worked out for the best, but all our friends and family thought we were bonkers to go ahead, but we did what was right for us and everyone got used to it and we had a lot of support (eventually!). I think your friend needs profesional help to get her through, and make her realise that she made the right decision - even though it was probably the worst one she will ever have to make. Good luck!!

I no what you mean. I think personally (forgive if im wrong) that its mostly the people who have never been in a situation where having a baby is not the best thing - for the baby, that are so against it and are so harsh to women who have had an abortion. And i don't think those people relise how difficult it is to go through, Its not something that is easy to decide. There are so many side effects etc that you would think people would lay off a bit. I think everyone should take a look at the link I've added below.

Her mother is from a different generation and maybe has very strong views on abortion...I believe they should only be used if the life of the mother is in danger or the child will have no quality of life because of a severe defect..what i think people disagree with is women using abortion for convenience..a life only has 1 chance and we are all totally unique ...and I find the thought of late abortions horrific especially when at one end of a hospital ..a baby is flushed away in the middle one is created and at the other a baby is desperately struggling to survive in an incubator..its a really tough call and everyone is entitled to there view..be there for your Friend,I am sure when her mother comes round she will realise at least she still has her daughter if not the grand child.

Well I guess if it is a medical thing than you really don't have a choice. But there are some people out there who will go get pregnant then turn around and get an abortion. Now people like that need to be shot. But I think personally that if it's for a medical reason then I don't see no harm in it. But like I said some people will do it just so they don't have to take care of the child. But sence your friend had to do it for a medical reason I don't even know her and I don't think shes a bad person. But I wish you and your friend the best of luck !

its not wrong to have an abortion in your friends case she needed too why risk your own life and the childs, and im so sorry that your friend has had to go through that. Her family should be supporting her through every trauma she has to go through, who needs family like that and at the end of the day its up to the individual if a person wants to have an abortion they should be-able too because ITS THERE LIFE! and we dont live it so people should just stop being so harsh and people shouldnt be too quick to judge.. tell ur friend to have a happy life and hope she is ok, and for you good luck and all the best...

It's really too bad that her mother isn't being supportive of her decision. It is wonderful that you are a good friend who is there for her and defends her.

Btw, not all or even most people think you are bad if you have an abortion otherwise the Roe vs. Wade would have been overturned by now. It's just those that think it is bad usually have really big mouths and seem to do a lot of name calling.

Because most are part of evil religious cults like christianity or islam who see wopemn as nothing more then walking baby factories to go forth and multipl;y and add new paying members to make their cult more powerful.

Same reason they want girls married and controlled, why they hate sex ed as means girls will be able to have sex without getting pregnant, likewise contraception, especailly artificial effective contraception.

Why they hate porn and strippers etc as the guy gets off withotu making babies.

Why they hate gays as gays dont make babies...

Get the idea?

And these relgious were created by nasty men who had no time for women or perverted what was once good and non sexist into something that was.

I agree when it comes to a life or death situation it could be the best option. Now, on to optional aborting. Most people believe that yes abortion is wrong, and a easy out for stupidity. It would be really hard to not want to hate on someone that took the life of a baby that had no choice. No matter what there are other options besides taking a life that is not yours to take.

I would NEVER abort unless there was absolutely NO WAY I or the baby would survive. Even if I were raped, it's still a baby and a life and deserves to live..
I don't agree with abortion. You are taking it's life before it's had it's first breath of fresh air. If you and the baby are fine then let it live and consider adoption if it's something you can't handle. It's alive from conception and has a heartbeat before most even realize they are pregnant.

Watch the videos and read about what the baby goes thru in different types of abortion and at different stages. It's horrible.

As far as her mother's feelings, I can't say. I know she needs her mother right now emotionally but we don't know the whole story. Maybe she feels her condition wasn't bad enough to terminate the baby I have no idea about her condition to say really.

My parents stopped talking to me for almost a year because of my religious preferences (I stopped going to thier church) and it hurt, but really your parents should still stand beside you. Maybe her mother will get better with it in time.
