I have found a quarter that is about 70 years old and I am not sure if I should clean it and if I do what is safe to use.

Don't Clean it at all. go to your local craft store and purchase coin covers. Never touch the coin face oils from the skin will add to the discoloration.

It is important to protect the coin from air and other elements.

I suggust you don't clean it. If you clean the quarter it woun't be as old as it seems and it looses the "preshistoric image"...lol. Think, does a scientist clean a fossil while studying it? I think you should just keep it in a safe place where no one can touch it.

The best way is to not touch it! Cleaning it with soaps and bleaches simply wears it away. Once it's worn, it's worn. There's no way to clean it without decreasing it's value by wearing away the details on its faces.

Dip it for a few seconds in Tarnex. Dont rub or wipe it, blot it dry after you rinse it with water.
