If you're were an owner of a NFL team, would you hire a coach that specialized offense or defense? I would go for offense. The chicago bears have been hiring defense coaches for the past few years and look what's happening to them.

I know about the how the Bears are doing but their offense is nothing to brag about either. Rex has been not been sporadic throughtout this season. Too many interceptions.

A head coach that I would hire must, first of all, be a class act. By that I mean that he/she would not throw fits like the one Dennis Green threw this year that included throwing a microphone and screaming - I'd have fired him immediately as that makes the entire team - indeed the entire city - look bad. The coach would of course have to know football inside and out, both the physical and the mental aspects of the game. Being the biggest Bears fan ever to live in Wisconsin (I'm originally from south of Chicago though), I'll say here that the Bears' problem isn't the coach, it's an offensive line that allows the defense to prance through to the QB virtually untouched. If you watch Grossman or Griese, they have absolutely no time to throw the ball. I'm not making excuses for their poor play, but the blame isn't all theirs or Lovie's. What I'd like to see is players who get paid based on performance. If I did my job every day as poorly as some of these people play, I wouldn't be paid. Period.

I would hire a Defense for one simple reason.

you can have all the offense in the world, but if you cant stop the other team, what good does it do ya?

And being a DIE hard bears fan, your lil comment is humorous. The bears have been ranked in the TOP 5 in D over the past 4 years. They have lead the NFL in take aways in the past 3 seasons.

OH YEA, not to mention they went 13-3 this season, and are the number one seed in the playoffs.

So, thats one reason why you hire a D coach over an O coach.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN LOOK WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING TO THEM???

THEY ARE KINDA THE NUMBA 1 SEED SISTA!

I would go for a well-rounded coach. One that's at least decent in offense, defense, special teams, and intangibles. Someone like Andy Reid who is invovled in everything.

GO BEARS!

i would go with a balanced coach with special teams emphasis. Then find coordinators who specializes in defense and offense

I would go for a smart guy who, when I interview him, seems to grasp both sides of the ball. But first.... I'd try to hire Bill Belicheck, or someone who has coached with Coach Belicheck...
