I really want to get a kitten. But my Apartment Office requires a $400 deposit and $200 is refundable. I don't have that kind of cash. In my last apartments I had a little dog without paying the deposit. They only found out when I had to put the dog on the patio over night one weekend. If I got a Cat, here in my new place(which is a much bigger property), how would they know if I kept the cat inside. Cat's don't make a lot of noise like dogs.

I know the main reason fo the deposits is if the Cat damages the carpet or something. But if I have ways to prevent or fix it, how would they know if I have a pet or not?

It's their rule.

If you get caught, they can evict you immediately.

Or they can go back and charge you the $400 immediately with none of it refundable because you broke their rules.

Or they can go back and charge you the $400 and interest on it from the time you moved in.

Either way is a kitten worth getting evicted. It does not matter at all what your previous landlord did. IF it was that great there, you'd still be at that previous landlord's apartment.

Every management co. has different rules, and it's designed to control the tenants (what if the person got 12 cats not just 1) not the pets.

GOD bless.

Pets tend to damage property and they smell. Also, it makes renting the place later harder, as most people do not want to deal with the health issues.

I would evict any renter to lied about a pet, it is a pretty big deal.

Ask them if they will settle for the 200 non-refundable portion. Carpet cost a lot more then that (cats tend to pee on it), but they may go for it since you are a good tenent.

Cats and kittens can make a big mess with the litter box and their claws can claw up woodwork, they can do alot of damage. It is difficult to get the urine scent out of a property once is the wood. Also, if someone moves into the apartment after you move out that does not have pets then the pet odor may linger if not cleaned properly.
You could chance it and not tell the apt. office but if they find out they will make you pay anyway. It could sit in the window one day or get out and then they may find out anyway.
Maybe you should wait till you can buy your own home or condo.

She wants you to go to your doctor to get a note that you are deaf and the dog is a benefit in helping you. You should also be aware that any damage your pet does in the apartment beyond normal wear and tear you are still liable for with or without a deposit.

My dear lady....it's not just the damage that they do but as a cat owner you know cat urine is the most dispicable and evil odor on earth. Well...next to a dead body maybe the second worse but bad all the same. In addition, the odor is not easily erradicated. Vinegar, protein-dissolving compounds and bleach work as a temporary fix but after a fashion the odor returns.
This is precisely the reason why you're being charged a "kitty-tax". Stick with goldfish baby. plus..when they die you can flush 'em and be done with it. No vet bills either.

for one things litter boxes STINK. No pets means no pets-you could be thrown out unless you pay the deposit. Deposit is for any destruction the pet may cause.

pets stink to non pet owners.
pets pee crap and tear up property that has to be fixed before renting to others. oh cats make noise. ask your self this how many hours am i going to be away daily include everthing - maybe a stuffed cat would be better or a larger social circle.
