Guinea pig rescues have a wide variety of breeds. Try www.petfinder.com Pet stores will most likely sell you mis-sexed or sick animals. And breeders are adding onto the already huge overpopulation problem. Guinea pigs are very overpopulated, there are many in shelters.

First of all, whoever says that Petsmart has "40 kinds" of guinea pigs, um, there aren't even 40 kinds of guinea pigs.
I would encourage you explore your local rescues, rather than patronize pet stores (which routinely send home sick, missexed animals) or backyard breeders (who are simply fueling the overpopulation problem for a bit of money or "as a hobby"). I see so many sick animals from pet stores that it isn't funny. And the two pigs that I own that we confiscated from a breeder as so genetically unstable that we couldn't adopt them out because of their numerous health problems.

Search the internet for cavy breeders in your area. Or look round the rescues, and adopt one of the breed that you want.
good luck

Find a reputable and responsible breeder, not a pet store. Do a search on the type you're looking for, that's how I found the coated breeds I used to have. It's your best bet if you want health, type and temperament and even advice when you have questions.

you can go looking for breeders, but they may be hard to find. talk to the petstore owners, they may be able to get you what you want.
