i heard that doing this might mess up the battery by like overcharging it and overheating it.

You herd wrong my friend. Leaving an ipod charging in a coumputer or to an wall charger, only charges it up fully, then stops so leaving it in all day will not hurt it at all. I was worried about this once intil saw that it won't on the apple website. I play my ipod all day and at the end when I go to bed I put it on the charger all night so its fully charged for the next day...just like my cell. But no it wont.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that if you leave your iPod plugged in all day, it won't hurt anything! I leave mine plugged in all night to charge it and it's perfectally fine in the morning!

i personally leave my ipod on my ihome dock and i haven't had any problems
