I am looking to play football at my high school next season. We play in a very noncompetitive district where every one makes the team due to lack of interest. I am 16, 6-foot-3, weigh 185 pounds and can run the forty under 5.5. I believe I can bench press about 160 pounds. I have medium catching ability. Two seasons ago as a Freshman I played RT and DE with only a decent season. My question is what position would my stats & size get me the most success?

I would counsider playing TE. Your huge and could be a massive target for your qb. You also have experiance as a blocker so you could also be a force in the running game. It would be like having an extra OT on the field.

if you are only lifting 160, than you shouldn't be playing football. Hit the weights and get your 40 time down.

my grandma can run a 5.5 forty in full pads.

when I was in high school i was 6'1 180lbs and ran a 4.55 forty.
and I was lifting 255 easy.

Now, i played TE in a running offense. So, thats is something that you want to look at, if your O is more run or passed based. If its passed based, with your size you would be a good possession WR, but due to your speed thats all you will be.

Its tough to determine what pos you should play. You have the size and weight to be a wide receiver or defensive back but that forty time isn't too promising for those positions. I would say you should be a linebacker. You have good size and strength. I dont think you weigh enough to be an offensive or defensive lineman.

The bench, you gotta hit the weight room and the track, but if you got heart it'll take you a little further

I think you could make a good line-backer or safety, it depends on what you like to do on the field.
