His charge was cut down to an F3 complicity and was given 3 years probation and it happened 6 years ago. We also live in Ohio. He is a totally different and is respectable, mature citizen of society now. He went from job to job prior to conviction. Since he has had a job for 4 1/2 years and tried to have a change of pace but now no one will hire him b/c of the felony. He has since not had any arrests or even a traffic ticket. We filed expungment papers a couple months ago and received his discovery papers a couple weeks ago and thought that he was denied a hearing. After many prayers we received a court date in the mail yesterday for a court hearing. We are just wondering how the hearing works. I know they want to know he's changed and blah blah blah.. but can we do anything else to show how his character has changed or something? Please help?

Your attorney should have already compiled affidavits and witnesses who can attest to his good character and his improved life, if needed. This will probably include testimony from jobs, church and community. Good luck. Otherwise, it will depend on his crime, his previous record and his record since.

The fact that he hasn't been in trouble in six years is his best bet. Just speak with the Judge honestly. Explain you want to vote and be a good citizen be a valued part of your community.

Depends on the crime. Some crimes they just won't expunge from your record.
