Sign in as 'appear offline', then no-one knows you've signed in. Then if there's someone on you don't want to talk to, temporarily block them, then appear 'online'

There is no way to stop the box.. the best way is to:
Download MSN Messenger Live
Keep status to appear offline
This way you can still chat to online contacts while looking offline
This can only be done with MSN messenger live
Download it here:

Just on the sign-in menu at the start,.. there's an option to sign in invisibly,.. *I think,.. if not, it might be in the Tool>Options bit,.. get me on msn now and I could guide you through it: remoman1974AThotmailDOTcom
I do not want to anything else except help you with this problem, I have other things to do. Get me now if you need guidance.

Switch to `Windows Messenger`; that doesn`t show you on line until you sign in, and personally I find it better to deal with than MSN.

you can make your self invisable to everyone, cant remember how on MSN but on yahoo the option is on the sign in page. if you can't find it you could always make your self inviable to very one as soon as you sign in and people will think you have signed back out.....
