yes, it will give a code and they wont' test it with any codes showing :(

Short Answer YES!... The O2 sensor measures the Oxygen left in the Exhaust. it also helps your Car's computer to determine the best AIR/Fuel Ratio. and there is some cars with 2 or 4 the second one just tests the Converter. but if you have a Bad O2 sensor the car will run more Rich and put out more Pollutants. It affects gas mileage and could damage the converter. It just best to pay the $20 to $100 for the sensor then to replace $500 worth of Exhaust parts.

yes if you have a bad or old O2 Sensor that will make you fail your smog test

the O2 sensor works with the computer to help control how much fuel is being used...If it is giving faulty info the computer gives the incorrect amount of fuel..the more fuel in the system..the more that is wasted..the smog test is measuring unburnt fuel in the system...hope that long winded info helps..
