do you have to be 18 when joining amazon?

when you sign up do you have to be 18 or over? because im 14 and i have my own account.

No I'm a 16 year old student and recently was promoted to buy Amazons gold account for my large amount of activity and buying.

The rules state however YOU must be the owner of the card you use IF you are UNDER 18.

e.g I have to use my card to pay for items.
