Pray for no homework from their teacher. But not likely. How about making some nice dinner for everyone to sit at the table and discuss day's events? Remember next Monday they have off again for Martin Luther King or Civil Rights Day. It won;t be peaceful very long. The day is short! Good Luck! May be you can catch a local police chase or a wild court case on TV.

In todays society, there are so many things to do when your children go back to school. If you like working with children, maybe volunteer at a library to read to other children. Also, volunteering at a pedriatric wing of a hospital is also a lot of fun
If you prefer not to do that, get involved with your community. Also you could visit the nursing homes and talk to the patients.

Go to the library and or the bookstore buy a book, solve some puzzles (crossword, sudoku, cryptogram, etc., learn some new recipes, masturbate, exericise, do some cleaning, clean the house, clean the car, engage in some spiritual pursuits, learn more about computers and the internet, find a lover, anything but sit on the couch watching TV and pissing the day away

Sit back and put your feet up with a cuppa! Do something YOU want to do.
I don't know how old your kids are but when mine were young I joined a women's group and did all sorts of things when they were at school. (Not every day - as you know, the house doesn't take care of itself)
Our women's group did arts and crafts, learnt how to make a stained glass window, went dry slope skiing, biking, skating, went to the sauna, tried different alternative therapies, went on residentials and a percussion 'taster' workshop led to a 4 year music project, a gig at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and ultimately to a job once the kids were older.
You only got one life - LIVE IT!!

Join a club, a health club, an artists club, a driving club, a mountain-bikers meet-up, offer to life-model for a local art-college, take up painting/drawing, go swimming, join a go-kart club or just go with some friends, redecorate your home, offer to help an elderly neighbour, start a creative project of some kind,.. lots to do, you just have to use your imagination a little :)

You might want to start by giving their rooms a deep clean. Get their stuff organized. Challenge them to be as independent as possible in getting themselves ready for school in the mornings. With a little prep ahead of time and a few minutes of explaining to them where things are and how you expect them to procede in the mornings you can save yourself a lot of frenzy on school mornings.
Now go do the same in your room....and teach hubby to be more independent too.
And.....now that you have all this free time on your hands.....volunteer ..... help someone else simplify their life.

Oh my sister I hear you! I go back to class on Tuesday ( ergo my three year old goes back to pre-school) and I hate to admit it...but I am relieved. Three weeks of vacation can be a bit too much sometimes.. the ideas run out if you're not going on a vacation, have no major plans, etc.

Relax! Rejoice! Bubble baths, reading, daydreaming, time to do NOTHING!

Until of course you begin to miss them.

Ahhh motherhood, a double edged sword!!
