Assuming your work related e-mail account still exists by the time you hit the door, can you even access it on any computer besides the ones at the employers office? If you can find a way to use the account, you are using company resources (their e-mail server) without authorization. That is considered theft in most jurisdictions.

You bet it's illegal.

Intellectual property at work is the property of the company.

They own it just like your desk chair. If you use it and are no longer an employee - you are stealing from them.
