I am 12 and my 18 year old brother is having a baby with his girlfriend. The baby will arrive sometime in February 2007. I am very excited about it. The most exciting part is that the baby will be born in my own house!! I want to know if there are anyways that I can help while the mother is going through labor. I have never seen a baby being born. This will be my first time. Any tips?

You need to ask the mother. Don't assume she wants your help as she may prefer to have no one but the midwife and your brother in the room. Find out if there is anything you could do to help her. Maybe you can bring her snacks and drinks, rub her back for her, give your brother a break to take a quick nap if it's a long labor, etc.

Good for you wanting to help. Just knowing that someone is there to run short errands or hold hands or massage feet may be of enormous comfort. If your brother attended child birthing classes, he probably knows how to provide supportive coaching. You can back him up.

ok,just make sure she is comfortable before the labor starts.bring ice,cold water and a handkerchief.wipe her face with the handkerchief as she is pushing(make sure the handkerchief is a little bit wet with the cold water).Bring lots of towels too.and if you want to,when you see the baby is coming out,close your eyes.Say hi to the baby for me!GOOD LUCK!

make sure there are ice chips and a cool clothes and cold water that helped me out alot. and just be there for support. no jokes not all women most women anyways dont like jokes. its a hard stressful time to go through and they will just tell you where to go half the time
