During Kill Bill vol. 1 they bleep out The Bride's real name, so that you would watch the second movie to find out her name. Orginally, kill bill wasn't supposed to be split into two movies, they were supposed to be one whole movie, but the time was too long, it would be a 3-4 hour long movie.

It's so you don't know the Brides' name. You find out what it is in Vol. 2. Good Question. But that's the answer.

wow, I am sorry that I don't have the answer, but I am so glad you asked this question. I know it is on UK tv tonight, but the dvd version has it too - I always assumed I had a dodgy copy! i assume it is tarantino being his creative best - the thing is, I usually get tarantino (I am a big fan) but it wasn:t at all clear to me what the beeps were for - they didn;t appear to be covering up swearing - either actually or ironically, so I will be very interested to see who does get the answer to this, because it's been bugging me for ages!"!

So that we cannot hear The Bride's name - it's not a major twist, but it's a clever device. The reason is unfolded in KB2.

Exactly... they were hiding what characters were saying when they were directly using "The Bride"s name. They sneak in her last name because its usage is more of "hey, kiddo" and the viewer doesn't know they are speaking literally and using her actual last name.
