I'm 24 year old this yr, second yr..and by the time i graduate, it will be 26. Thinking to quit. I know it's never too old to get my education. But by the time when i finish, i'm still a blank piece of paper with no work experience. I'm afraid that no one will employ me when im that old. People who are 26 already gained work experiences. Chances for me to get employ is minimum. Feeling so hard to compete with other people who usually graduate 23, 24.

I wouldnt quit i I was you. I went back to college when I was 25. Changed direction totally and have spent 10 great years now in my new profession. Cosidering I left college at 28 with no relevant experience I've done well in my company , 10 yrs on I am a senior manager and I have never regretted being at college later than normal.

Don't quit! I finished my degree when I was 28 and got my first job shortly thereafter. Remember, age is just a number. Have you tried an internship or networking with your fellow students? Try part time work or an internship related to your studies. That will open many doors for you. Networking will give you a head start. The important thing to realize is, "It's who you know vs what you know". After you graduate, you will need to go through all avenues to get a job: networking, job postings on the internet, career fairs, etc. Two recommendations for you is 1) Go to your campus career center and look on their internet job postings. Many of those are looking for entry level employees and you should get a few interviews. 2) Go to a temp agency ( Manpower, Kelly Services ). They have contract jobs that you may find interesting. It's actually beneficial because you tell them exactly what you are looking for. Even though it's called a 'temp agency', many times those jobs turn into full time employment. At the very least, you will add valuable work experience, references, and pay for your time there. In summary, don't quit!

You have got to be kidding. I am 45, and I can tell you from this end of the table, what I care about is whether you learn fast, can make sense of what's around you, and can apply yourself. If all you did at school was learn a bunch of facts, sure -- I don't value that, and a lack of experience will hurt you. But if you "grew up" at school and you show maturity in your judgement, and common sense, then your education will support that. Lack of experience will just mean that you start with a lower salary -- which makes sense, as they're having to train you.

Some employers are wary of people who have "too much" experience, because they're "untrainable". Find an employer who is willing to take a chance. Trust me they're out there. I hired a guy right out of school because I couldn't afford to pay for an experienced one... and what I valued was a solid education and common sense, and an ability to respond well under pressure.

good luck!

I AM 26 and I just submitted for info to be sent to me regarding getting my BS in Business Administration. I don't feel old at all. I am glad that I am doing it now instead of waiting until I am older and less than enthused about going back. It's never too late and I encourage you to pursue your education.

26 is not old! Continue with your education and if possible seek out an internship or do volunteer work. This will allow you to have something meaningful to add to your resume.
