He brought peace to the force by killing Palpatine after helping Palpatine bring conflict to the force. He could have also brought peace to the force by bringing Luke and Leia into the world. Luke went on to bring back a school for teaching Jedi and Leia helped governments to work together as a united force. Maybe their good balanced out his evil.

Anakin brought balance to the force in two ways. First, the Sith had adopted the mantra of "Only 2, Master & Apprentice" to keep their presence unknown. The Force was greatly skewed towards the light @ this time, but after Episode 3 there are only 2 Sith & 2 Jedi.
Second, Emperor Palpatine had grown extremely powerful during his reign while the Jedi went into hiding. Thus imbalance once again. Vader's betrayal/killing of the Emperor & subsequent death left the world with Luke Skywalker. 1 Jedi (light) with
1. An extremely dark side (dark; See Dark Empire)
2. OR if you like a weakened version of the Emperor in his clone (See Dark Empire)
In other words, they didn't realize how that balance would be met. The strange item I find is that the Jedi, believing the Sith to be extinct, should have never wanted a "Balance" in the Force. While balance sounds good, they were smart enough to know that this meant and equal amount of Good/Bad; Dark/Light; Yin/Yang...whatever. If you have the advantage, why would you want to change it?

I think the Jedi did misinterpret what 'bringing balance to the Force' meant. The Jedi Council probably thought that it meant that the Force was out of balance because the Sith were returning, and that Anakin's role was to help destroy the Sith to bring balance. He did eventually do this, by becoming a Sith and, with his son's help, overthrowing his Sith master (Palpatine), sacrificing himself in the process.
The Jedi may not have anticipated that balance in the Force might mean a clearing of both sides, which had been increasingly set in their ways - the Sith with their deception and plotting, and the Jedi with their arrogance. Wiping the slate clean by reducing the Jedi from an order to a few exiles and then later eradicating the Sith eventually brings a new balance of the Force, unweighed down by existing convention.
However, another way to look at balance in the Force is to see that the Force had become too concentrated and used in a relatively small group of people (the Jedi). By wiping out the Jedi, and then later the Sith, Anakin returns the balance of the Force from being concentrated in individuals, and back to the cosmos, leaving it up to his son to start a new path relatively clear of the influence of the old ways.

The prophecy was something like "The Chosen One wil bring balance to the Force." Anakin Skywalker did bring balance to the by destroying the Sith. The Sith "law" was that there was only one Master Sith and one Apprentice Sith, so there's only 2 Sith Lords in the Galaxy at one time. In order for the Apprentice to become the Master, he had to kill his Master. Since Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader) killed the Sith Master (Darth Sidious: aka the Emperor), and he himself died, thus destroying the Sith. However, the Sith rose again, and Anakin Skywalker's grandson, Jacen Solo, is on his way to becoming a Darth (Sith lord).

KF6DBS is right and I've argued that point with friends through out the years. Anakin fulfilled his destiny by killing Emperor Palpatine which in turn brought balance back to the force.

I wonder if it has to do with the energy of personal growth and change. At the end of JEDI, Vader turns against the Emperor in order to save his son, Luke. It is an act of both power and redemption, and those kinds of concepts, forces, mindsets, whatever you want to call them, are an important part of creating and enforcing peace.

Lucas openly borrowed from a great form of distinctive mythologies and archetypes stumbled on with the aid of the international. So no longer quite, very virtually all human beings can locate aspects of celeb Wars that look suitable to the religion or philosophy they take place to prepare.

Anakin was the one who, in the end killed Emperor Palpantine. Sure, he took out a whole lot of the other side with him, but that was how I interpreted it.
