The biggest one you can afford, you're always going to want to store more stuff on it that it has the capacity for.

It depends; do you want a video or just a music player? How many songs are you going to be on it?

ipod videos have 30 or 60gb and you can load on movies, music videos and buy games for it.

ipod nano is great for just songs. There are 1,2, 4, and 8gb but you need a good hard case for this one. You cannot put videos on this though.

ipod shuffle is a nice beginner for just a few albums of songs but if you are looking for a long term ipod I'd suggest a nano to start out with.

I have had both the iPod Nano and the iPod 60gb , depending on how you want to use it. The nano is okay if you just want to listen to songs, I managed to fill mine up in no time. Then I got the 60 gb iPod video, and haven't even begun to touch the memory, I have bought the video transfering software and have about 12 hours of video and about 2 days of music on it and still have 75 percent memory still available.

It depends on your money! The best one is the 80GB one with the large screen which is so expensive. But I recommend you Creative Zen rather than an iPod, because:
1. It is cheaper
2. It has a built in microphone(voice recorder)
3. It has line-in recorder
4. It plays video & shows photos
5. and so on
while iPod doesn't have any of these & you have to buy them separately(microphone & Radio)

And reviews on the Cnet.com for more informations about these two.

It depends. The regular ones are fine, and cheapest, which is always good.
But if you want to play videos or have pictures, get the new ipod that has the capacity to do this.
You also need to consider how many songs you want to store on it. For example, the regular 20gb one can store upwards of 10,000 songs. Which is a hell of a lot!

iPod video 30 gig or 60 gig. Avoid the nano, the stupid thing broke in my pocket. Its worth it getting a larger iPod, for the bigger screen and to play videos on it.

I personally love my 20gig picture ipod. I also feel that it is stupid to put pictures or videos on an ipod simply because its such a small screen. Not only that, Music is much much better than pictures and movies to me.
