get a calculator. The TI-30Xa is about $10. Until then:

2^0 = 1
2^1 = 2
2^2 = 4
2^3 =8
2^4 = 16
2^5 = 32
2^6 =64 see a pattern?

3^0 = 1
3^1 = 3
3^2 = 3x3 = 9
3^3 = 3x3x3 = 27
3^4 = 3x3x3x3 = 81
etc

Any number to the zero power is 1.

2,4,8, 16, 32, 64...

for the others, just take a calculator and multiply by the number one more time each time.
3 to the first power is 3.
3 to the second power is 9 (3x3). to the fourth is 3x3x3x3=81, etc.
Same for the others.

Get a calculator. 2 to the power of 6 is 2^6, or 2x2x2x2x2x2.

You can type that into Google, and it will tell you the answer with its hidden calculator applet.

If you are running Windows, use "calc".

Use scientific mode, and the x^y function.

For 5^8, you would type in:

5
x^y
8
=

hope that helps.
