The emblem is divided in three parts. The llama to represent the fauna of Peru. The 'quina' tree, to represent the flora. This tree was chosen because of the medical properties that its roots contain, which saved many cities from a disease some centuries ago. The 'cornucopia' which is a horn full of coins, and represents the vast quantity of natural resources that the country has.

The color red represents the blood of all the heroes that fought for the country. The white part represents the peace that the country seeks.
