Stupid question, I know. but I see teeny tiny little litter boxes at the pet store for hamsters all the time..they even sell hamster litter, for the litter box....Is this just a gimic or is it really possible to potty train a hamster? If so, how? I've had hamsters for years, but I've never had a potty trained one.

Hamsters and gerbils tend to use one part of their cage to potty in. The cute little litter boxes they sell do work, and they are easier to clean than the entire cage. They litter train themselves.

The problem is that they are for rodents, and rodents chew a lot. The plastic litter boxes often get used as chew toys, and they disappear pretty quickly.

Yeah you can potty train them as I've heard at least! I'm not exactly sure how though! It does sound weird to potty train a hampster though! LOL Sorry this isn't much help but at least you know you can now!

I don't think you can really "potty train" a hamster. I got a litterbox for my hamster and she just automatically went in it. Same with my bunnies.
