Where are you from? I am in Canada and I don't get benefits. I do get my child allowance like everyone else.. and now for kids under 6 all families get an extra $100...
For single mom's, the only thing that I receive is subidized health care (that is availbe to anyone in my income bracket with kids, single or not). Also, my child receives free extended health care benefits.
The things that are available though is subsizdized housing, I was on that the first year I was a single mom. My rent was 1/3 of my income and could be no lower then $120 that I paid for rent.
The one thing that is a life saver is subsized child care. I never got to use this as I work shift work.. but it is cheap. I paid up to $1,000 a month for child care, with subsized you pay about $100 a month! A huge savings that can make or break you.. of course it is only through an approved day home or day care
Welcome wagon will give new mothers cupons and such. And quite often the health unit will give you help and in home visits for free

Child Benefit is something you should be receiving. You may also qualify for Child Tax Credits and Working Tax Credits if you are working. Check the HMRC website for details.
You may also be able to claim Housing Benefit, Poll Tax Benefits, Free Milk and other things. Check with your local council or Housing office or try their websites. Your local Citizens Advice Bureau or Welfare Rights office will be able to help.
Hope I have pointed you in the right direction.

You would be eligible for the basic child tax credit and another amount depending on the age of your child. If you are working you would also be eligible for a working tax credit if on low pay. Information on these are available from HMRC either at a local office or www.hmrc.gov.uk. Jobseekers allowance may be available as well as housing benefit.

It depends on your income and whether you were working before your pregnancy. You are probably entitled to some tax credits when the baby is born and you also get child benefit.
It's unique to your personal circumstances however, so you need to talk to your local benefits office.

It depends on situation. If you were working you get mat pay, working & child tax credits, & child benifet. If you were not i am unsure but think you may still be intitled to child tax credits. you get a higher amount because your single. i in same situation it not at all bad what they give you - no need for men, nothing but waste of space!!! go and speak to someone at citizens advice and they'll sort you out.

This will depend on your total circumstances. My best advise would be to go to your local library or Advise Centre and see a benefits advise worker for independent advise of what you are entitled to and they will also help you complete the forms.
