A leather jacket is a great investment in your wardrobe
First steam it with any steam iron by applying steam five to six inches from jacket. Use the power burst steam button often.
Turn it inside out and steam it, should will remove all the perspiration, smoke and other yucky odors your jacket picks up.
Wipe dry if necessary with white cloth.
Your jacket is now as good as it comes back from the cleaners.
For an extra touch, apply a leather conditioner. It will keep your jacket leather water repellent and supple. Do this at least three times a year, even in summer and always remember to let your leather breathe when not in use by keeping garment bags unzipped.
Having your jacket leather treated will cost a small fortune, do it yourself instead.

NO....you might as well throw it away if you put it in the washer, Dear. There are cleaning kits and even leather cleaning wipes that you can purchase for very little that will allow you to wipe away most surface dirts or stains. About every three years, you really need to pay for a good leather dry cleaning of it.
