well it depends... are you taking your pills at the same time EVERY day? cuz that could be one of the reasons why your bleeding also you should read the little instruction sheet for your pills and that should help clarify everything. and if not try going to the doctor.

Old blood is darker than fresh blood, so if it's kind of dark bown or almost black, then that's what it is. If you have just started taking the pill, then it is quite common to get spotting in the middle of the packet, sometimes the spotting can be quite heavy almost like a period.

If you have been taking the pill for longer than 3 months, unless you have missed a pill or two, it's an indication that the pill isn't strong enough, and you need to go pack to your doctor to change dosage (and sometimes brand). I had to go through 5 or six different dosages/brands until I found one that worked properly. They'd sometimes work fine for the first three months and then I'd start spotting after that.

I had this a few weeks ago and went to the hospital. depends what pill you are taking cause the pill I am on is well known for people to have a little bleeding in between. But I would go and see someone just to get checked out. You might even need to try another type of pill.

In mid cycle it is called breakthrough bleeding. This is fairly common, but warrants asking your Dr. about. Sometimes it can be that the pill you are on is not the right one for you. It can also be a warning sign that's telling you it's time for a checkup. The very dark blood is old blood, meaning you have been having mild bleeding for some time and is just now coming out.

have yo just started taking the pill, or have you run two packs of the pill together? its quite common to have break through bleeding to start with, and if you run two packs of pills together without having your period on the 7 day break week...
if it is concerning you, and is more than "spotting", i would see a doctor to put your mind at rest.
