Trisha,

Congratulations on the new business!

You can have a bunch of people working on call (when you need them). This would be cheaper than going through an agency, but you also would not have to pay them when you are not using them.

Make sure you have an excess of people, since they will have more than one job and may not be available when you need them.

Hi it takes a short while to start up any kind of company. I would start touting for small contracts to begin with particularly those that you can do yourself. Then when you have some references go for the slightly larger contracts where you need 1 - 3 staff. Then put an advert on some local advert boards and see what response you get. Always take up references.

Job agencies will do a lot of the work for you but they will cost you so build this into your bid for contracts.

You might consider hiring people on a contract basis so that if they don't work you don't pay. You don't get loyalty here though. Look in your local university and local school and ask amongst friends. You will find a lot of people who want to work part time here - as well as those that are able to work early in the morning - which you will need for office workers.

Good Luck

Yes, in my opinion. Bear in mind that you'll pay a bit more above their base rate for payroll taxes, workers comp, ect., but the agency will handle all of the cumbersome paperwork for you and provide as many people as you need - as you need them.

The only disadvantage, as I say, will be the higher premuim, as I say. Ask the agency how much you'll be billed grand total per hour.

I will add the the way things are set up regarding hiring people (payroll taxes, expensive workers comp, ect) makes it very difficult for people like you, and now with those rotten Democrats in there, it might become virtually impossible to afford to hire anyone at all.

People think it's easy to "hire a kid" and I hear that a lot. How are you going to pay that kid? Are you going to get workers comp?

Here's another idea: See who you can find who can legitimately work as INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS as you need them. Look into that. It could be the best option, although they have to meet the qualifcations for being considered that.

In the states you must have a business licenses in the state and city in which you live. I would take a copy of those and go to the local hardware stores in your area. Ask the front cashier and then speak with management. Leave your copies along with business cards. These kinds of stores do alot of business with commercial contacts. Make flyers and then mail them out to the addresses you see in your local directory under the commercial businesses. Make magnetic signs for your car. Run your mouth 24/7 to all of your friends. Be Professional and Pleasant at all times. Have Your proper Insurance and Licenses. If your work is good and you are a Professional it will come. Be Quiet and listen, to your feelings about this.

Find yourself some single mothers who's kids have just started school and are looking to fill their day and earn a little extra cash. They are mostly good workers.

Hire someone and put them on call. I am sure there is a student who will willingly wait for a job, assuming it is a job they can help you with.
