I'm thinking of travelling around the continent. I'm thinking of going to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Italy, maybe Spain.
I don't know the best way of doing it..
by car... train... coach... hitch hike?
Any suggestions from anyone who has done something like this are much appreciated!

If you can get hold of a car and drive, then this is the best way. You then have flexibility to go to places not normally accessable by public transport. But you will have to be brave, driving in Europe and the different rules of the countries can be daunting. Inter-railing is a simple way to get around and you will be able to get good deals on the ticket. But you will be limited to where you can go, however, if you only want to see the major cities then this is the best option. enjoy.

If the journey is overnight, go by train. It's more expensive but trying to sleep on a coach is for me anyway, an absolute nightmare. If it's a few hours, then a coach is ok for a change. Hitching is not a clever idea. 99 times out of 100 it's fine, but it only takes 1 psycho. Don't take the risk.

train- no doubt this is the most fun. You can get a Eurorail card from most travelagents. It gives you the flexibility to get to some of the lass known and more rural places as well as enjoying the typical tourist spots and major cities. You can change your timeline to suit if you like by making you ticket open. Taking a car involves looking out for road singns and conentrating on the route, you miss so much. Hitching is hard work as many countries do not allow it. Coaches are rather more restrictive on there tickets and dont get you to the less touristy/ regular places. Enjou whatever you choose to do .

I am planning on going to europe in May and decided to use a package plan that includes some meals, excursions and a guide and airfare and transfers and hotels. We are going to Italy, france, switzerland, london, germany, and a few others. We will land in London nd the train will take us through the other countries and stop and we will stay at a hotel in each country and fly out of london, Since im not familier with anything my agent recomended this. The travel company im using is called www,Globus.com.

The train system is quite relaiable, fast, easy to use and cost effective. This is especially convenient if you are traveling alone or in a pair or trio. If you are planning to go way off the beaten track, or have 4 or more people, you may want to consider renting a car. Otherwise, train is the way to go!You may even think about get a Eurorail Pass (or something similar) to take advantages of discounts.

Check out "Eurail" on the web.....night trains are awesome and relatively cheap - the price of the ticket plus like 15 bucks - so you get to travel and sleep and don't waste time. I know there are night trains in and out of every major city. There are also major cheap plane tickets...but lots of those deals you have to already be in Europe. Plus I'm a train fan. Have Fun!

I am doing the same next month, this time by car but if I had more time and was going in the warmer months I would definately have done it by train, bus and hitching a lift.
